In 2013, we proudly celebrated the grand opening of our Freshpet Kitchens in Bethlehem, PA, where all Freshpet foods are made. With the latest production technology and stringent Quality Assurance procedures, our kitchens are the cleanest and most advanced in pet food today.

But having the right place isn’t enough. You need the right people who believe in making a difference for dogs and cats. Our Freshpet Kitchens team members and partner vet nutritionists work tirelessly to create healthy recipes.

How It’s Made

From preparation to packaging, the health of your pet always comes first.


We work closely with trusted suppliers and inspect each ingredient that enters our facility.

Cooking & Packaging:

Each Freshpet batch is checked thoroughly to ensure cooking temperature, chilling time, and packaging exceed our standards. Each bag has been checked for harmful bacteria or foreign materials before leaving the Freshpet Kitchens.

Facilities and Procedures:

The Freshpet Kitchens is registered with the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). We cook our meats following the human food standards set forth by the FDA and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).

And we are one of only three pet food facilities in the world to have earned a Safe Quality Food Level 3 Certification, the highest honor of its kind.

At Freshpet, we’re dedicated to creating recipes that provide the best nutritional value. Our pet-passionate R&D team has extensive experience in pet and human food industries. We work closely with vet nutritionists to determine the best ingredients and combinations for your pet’s health.
