Bringing Your Pet into the Holiday Fun

13 Dec 2013 | Written by Freshpet
One of the best parts of the holidays are getting to spend so much time with friends and family.
Maybe it's sitting by the fire and laughing about past holiday memories, or cooking together in the kitchen for the whole family that brings joy to you and your loved ones. And while we each show our love for friends and family in different ways, there are so many fun ways to spread the love to our pets, too! This holiday season, we've gathered some of our favorite ways to remind our pups and kitties just how much they mean to us.

Santa Paws' Favorite Cookies: Tasty treats are always a fun way to celebrate the holidays, and baking tends to bring all of the family into the kitchen. While our pets can't always enjoy the same snacks that we like to eat, they still can get their holiday treat fix with some of our yummy cookies for pups. Just like you'd bake your own, Freshpet's Ready to Bake Cookies take only minutes in the oven to turn into a warm, golden brown treat that will look and smell like they were made for you! To put a little more holiday spin on a snack for your pup, try our peanut butter Celebration Cookie. We baked some of these this morning for the pups at the office and love to use holiday-shaped cookie cutters to give them some extra flair. Some fun shapes could be an angel, church bells, a dog bone, snowflakes or even Santa's sleigh! As an aside, we've heard from a trustworthy source that Santa Paws himself loves these Freshpet goodies. Because your pup might have a hard time leaving any of these decorative treats for Santa by the time he makes it down the chimney, you may want to make two batches :)

Ornaments for Everyone: When you were younger, did your parents ever have homemade ornaments with your picture or birthyear on them signifying your first few holidays? Well, it's easy to create the same timeless memories for your kitty or pup using their paw-prints with this DIY kit from Walmart!  It only takes minutes to oven-bake the clay to a warm temperature, perfect for capturing your pet's one-of-a-kind paw print.
