Another long day. A full day of appointments, conference calls, t-ball game and Parent's Night at the elementary school. And another lazy alternative for dinner. As convicted as I am about feeding my children healthy foods, I again fell victim to the convenience factor.
Dried pasta, jarred pasta sauce, a few healthy vegetables thrown in, but still a carb-laden dinner full of preservatives. Sigh. I will do better tomorrow.
This challenge is certainly making me think long and hard about my recommendations for pet foods to my clients. For years, I've been one of those veterinarians who, when asked by a client what they should feed their pet, I've answered with a list of things to consider when buying pet food and a list of a few different foods that I'd recommend and why. For all these years, though, I was giving them advice on what was available, not really relating this to feeding our pets like we feed our family.
My way of answering that question has been permanently altered after doing this FreshPet Fridge Challenge. No longer will I be recommending preservative-rich dry foods. Now, I will be recommending that my clients feed their pets like they feed their families. Healthy, fresh foods that are balanced and nutritious.
