It’s no secret that when it comes to hors d’ouevres, pigs in a blanket are near the top of everyone’s list. When those delectable little treats come around, no one can resist. But why should we have all the delicious fun? In honor of National Pig in a Blanket Day, an obscure but tasty holiday, we want to show our four-legged friends a little love. Here’s a dog treat recipe twist on pigs in a blanket that we call Pigs (Laying) on a Blanket (we added some bacon—because, why not?) that pet parents can easily make for their pups.
1 bag Dog Joy Chicken Treats
1 bag Dog Joy Turkey Bacon
Preheat an oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
Cut the filo dough into half triangles.
Cut each bacon strip into quarters and place one on each half triangle.
Cut the Dog Joy Chicken Treats in half and place on top of the bacon strips.
Stick a toothpick in each one to hold them all together. They should look like the treats pictured above.
Place each of the treats on a greased baking sheet and put in the oven
Bake for 8-12 minutes, until the dough is a nice golden brown.
Remove and let cool down for 5 minutes.
Feed your dogs their delicious treats (remember to remove the toothpicks) and enjoy National Pig in a Blanket Day!
