Freshpet Takes Part In Marley’s Mutts Survivor Celebration

30 May 2012 | Written by Freshpet
Last week Freshpet donated baskets of goodies to Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue located in Tehachapi, CA.  It is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable corporation created to help find permanent homes for stray, abandoned, or otherwise homeless dogs. This weekend was extra special because we had the opportunity to celebrate two very special burn survivors, Phoenix and Natalia. Phoenix and Natalia were involved in an accidental fire at a home in Tehachapi. They were the only survivors out of 12 puppies. When the puppies were brought to the burn center, entire areas of muscle were exposed and the scorching on their backs reached the bone. The progress of these two puppies is nothing short of a miracle. With the help of amazing vets, vet techs and volunteers, these pooches have a chance at a new life. These healthy, active puppies are no longer the handicapped dogs that we once knew before. After everything these pups have been through, it was decided they will come back into the world by giving back and being of service. When they were released from the Pet Emergency Hospital, they both entered therapy training in hope they will be able to help other burn victims get through their sufferings with a friendly face by their side. The Freshpet team had a great time attending the celebration in honor of the burn team's work and the puppies’ fight for survival. Make sure to take a look at the Freshpet Charitable Donations website to view other organizations and rescues that we have helped.
