The mission of Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue (DVGRR) is to respond to unwanted, abused, neglected or puppy mill survivor Golden Retrievers, Goldendoodles, Labrador Retrievers, and other Golden-hearted dogs. Our mission is to provide veterinary care and rehabilitation until a suitable adoptive home is found through a stringent application process. DVGRR provides education relating to the larger breed dogs as well as education to the general public about responsible dog ownership. Since 1993, Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue has successfully placed over 5,600 dogs into new homes throughout Pennsylvania and surrounding states. With our location based in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, (known for some of the worst puppy mills in the United States) and other areas of the country, we are seeing more and more dogs entering DVGRR that would benefit from the experience of our existing Project Home Life program, an innovative program to help former puppy mill breeder dogs slowly integrate into life with a family. Our Rescue is a brick and mortar facility on over 5 acres. We engage our volunteers to help walk dogs, socialize dogs through our Project Home Life Program, Community Events and our monthly Open House event where the public is welcome to visit the available dogs and take a tour of our facility. Every dog arriving at DVGRR receives a full medical evaluation and receives top notch medical care to treat all types of medical conditions ranging from a routine spay/neuter surgery, dental cleaning/extractions, to more extreme cases like heart surgeries. The medical cost we incur for the quality care we provide to the dogs is substantial and winning these funds from Freshpet will allow us to continue to care for many more dogs.
