We have to admit that while many of us watch it for the sport, a lot of us are in it for the blockbuster commercials. This year’s Super Bowl had a handful of winners, but these were our favorite ads. Hint: They all feature furry friends!
Volkswagen: The Bark Side
Star Wars fans and dog lovers unite! This rendition of the Star Wars theme song is the best yet.
Grab a tissue, Budweiser brings it.
Doritos: Puppy Dad
All for the cute factor.
Mercedes Bend: The Tortoise and The Hare
So. Many. Animals. While there aren’t any cats or dogs in this one, we’re just fans of all the adorable woodland creatures.

Fun sporting events like the Super Bowl inevitably bring parties with lots of delicious appetizers and meals. But when lots of yummy food is out on the table, this can be extremely tempting for our pets. We can barely control ourselves from taking another scoop of 7-layer dip. But there are ways you can make sure your pets are safe during the big game.
It’s also your responsibility to make sure your guests know of any dangerous foods. Make sure to ask everyone not to feed your pets table food. A little never hurt anyone, but you can’t be sure how much or how little your guests may be slipping your dog or cat. So just let them know as they make their way in.
One easy way to avoid eager pets from stealing table food, is to make them something special of their own. Here are some fun recipes we put together with help from our friends at Barkpost. All of these recipes are healthy and 100% safe for our pets.
At Freshpet, we’d like to think that the first best thing about the Super Bowl is the Puppy Bowl. That’s why at our headquarters we decided to make some fun, healthy, and easy pre-game appetizers for your dog.
Our newest addition, Fresh from the Kitchen – Home Cooked Chicken Recipe is a flavorful yet healthy meal – making it a great addition for your pet’s pre-game. To make these bites, slice up naturally sweet beets to be the base. Then spread greek yogurt over the top. The yogurt will help to make the other ingredients “stick” and is healthy too! Next sprinkle shreds of chicken, carrots, and cranberries from Fresh From the Kitchen on top. Feel free to add extra cranberries.
Health Tip: Beets are packed with iron, potassium, fiber, beta-carotene and vitamins A through C. Which means, they’re great for both humans and pups! But they also promote great liver health as they have cleansing and detoxifying qualities.
For all the meat loving pups out there, we made a slider entirely out of meat. Yes you heard us right.
Use our Dog Joy Sausage Slices for the “bread.” Then layer in thin slices of our Freshpet Select Tender Chicken recipe. You can use any favorite Freshpet roll, but we recommend grabbing it in a 1 LB size, as it’s perfect for these bite-sized treats. Then sprinkle in shredded pieces of Fresh From the Kitchen. It’s a mouthful that will keep your dog content during the game.
We’re taking a fresh take on, well … anything wrapped in bacon! Our office pets love the crunch of carrots, so we thought we’d take it to the next level and wrap them in our Turkey Bacon treats. To make the bacon treat stick to the baby carrots, use peanut butter. Simply spread peanut along the length of the bacon, then wrap.

The Big Game may have been a bit boring, but many of the commercials during the Super Bowl were anything but!
And if there’s any one thing we took away from last night’s TV ads, it was that we were reminded of the Power of the Pup. Several of last night’s most popular commercials involved puppies – and we loved it!
Which one was your favorite, Freshpet fans?
“Gracie” – This little girl knows how to bargain.
“What Can You Do With #nocontract?” So…whatever happened to those puppies that Tim Tebow saved? Can we have them please?
“Slow Bark” – Many of us saw CarMax’s Slow Clap commercial last night. But, did you know that they re-enacted it with only puppies? We can’t stop watching it!
“Time Machine” – We wouldn’t necessarily recommend feeding Doritos to your pup, but it was cute nonetheless ;)
5. Doritos’ “Cowboy Kid” – Is there something about dogs and Doritos that we’re unaware of?
“Doberhuahua” – We’ve heard of some adorably awesome mixed breeds, but this was a first!
“Puppy Love” – This one’s got everyone talking this morning. Pass the Kleenex!
